I began this quest to figure out what to do with Blue Creations back in 2009. Originally, this served as my online graduation portfolio. The name was inspired by the memory of my father who constantly encouraged me to do something with my art. Over the years I have played with this site trying to figure out what it would become. As of today, I have my answer.
Blue Creations will be my main DBA (Doing Business As) with which I will be able to do my freelance artwork and launch different product lines as I develop them. I have applied for my business license which should arrive in about ten days and allow me to officially offer my services as an online business.
This Blogger site is not my main business site - it's simply my blog. However, it features some of my work, the services I offer, and my email if you'd like to contact me. But ulimately, this is the place where I will share news worthy events about what is happening with Blue Creations.
I hope to offer something of value to my art fans and peers in addition to simply having an online diary. That's what a blog is after all, right?

Quick Gallery
Check this out! This is one of the best free gallery builders I've seen. www.quickgallery.com. I have used it on my Illustration page and it works pretty well. It seems to lag a little, but other than that the amount of customization is impressive. Check it out!

Julie Dillon Art
Hey everyone! I found this amazing artist online who specializes in fantasy illustration using digital painting techniques. She is...AMAZING. I wanted to share this link with you so that you could enjoy her work as well. I would love to get to this point with my digital painting, but I have the feeling that she has been at this for awhile. Truly talented.

Inspired by Bill Steidel
When I was 17 we took a family vacation to Cannon Beach, OR, and I met an artist named Bill Steidel. Mr. Steidel owns a shop on the main strip where he displays his work. He also sits in his shop and creates more on occasion. I must have stood there for about an hour and watched him work. I got the chance to chat with him a little, and it was impactful. I went back to school that fall inspired by what I had seen, and all I knew was that I wanted to learn to draw that well. Here is an example of his work.
Steidel's Art Website
I worked on this piece today as my first piece in my collection inspired by Mr. Steidel. I have a long way to go, but with practice I believe I will improve. Right now I am trying to figure out how he is able to apply the color in such a vibrant way, and this was good practice. The colors he uses are much more saturated.

I believe that as I continue to practice and study his work that I will be able to pick up some very helpful tips. Check out his site at the link above and prepare to be impressed by this talented artist. Thanks, Mr. Steidel!!

Oblivion
I went to see Oblivion in IMAX today - Tom Cruise and Morgan Freeman. Critics hated it. Honestly, I thought it was great. The tough part about reviewing it in my opinion is not spoiling it. Some of the things that I was most impressed by was the originality of the story and the compositing work done with the CG. The scenes looked and sounded incredibly integrated. I felt like I was there. The creativity of the futuristic items were on point as well. I will definitely purchase this Blu-Ray when it's available. Go see it!

My Art Blog
I have decided to write a blog. Why? I am an artist and I find playing with HTML code to be just as fun and creative as actually drawing or painting. Plus, I wanted a place to share my art with the world. My own digital art gallery.
One of my favorite things about art is sharing it with others. I like to get to know other artists, and I enjoy creating things for friends and family members. This platform in our Social Media age allows me to connect with others in a fast and easy way. I have a day job, but I have done a lot of freelance work the past several years. Having an accessible portfolio comes in handy.
Another thing that is great about blogging is the ability to talk about the work as well. Being able to talk about the ideas or inspiration behind the work would be really cool. So, there's a lot of cool benefits to Blogger when you're an artist!
Thanks for visiting my blog. Please have fun looking around and feel free to leave comments or feedback. It would be fun to hear from you!
